PS2 Home - Fighting Games: WWE: Smackdown! Just Bring It! WWE: Smackdown! Just Bring It! by THQ Platform: PlayStation2 ESRB Rating: Teen ASIN: B00005NN5L Check price @ amazon.com , amazon.ca , amazon.co.uk Features: • Action WWF pro-wrestling game • Square off against 30 of your favorite WWF superstars • Crush opponents in 60 different match types • Execute bone-shattering moves such as the Rock Bottom and the Stone Cold Stunner • Features WWF stories, championships, and commentary from Michael Cole and Tazz Amazon.com: As the style of professional wrestling on TV has changed, so have the video games. Gone are the days of simple bouts between two men in tights. Wrestling is now a violent soap opera full of plot twists, romance, and intrigue. WWF Smackdown! Just Bring It accordingly contains as much story as it does action. The game features more than 40 WWF wrestlers who participate in 70 types of matches. Superstars like "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, The Rock, and Kurt Angle are joined by characters like Stephanie McMahon, Fred Durst, and Tajiri. Special matches include Falls Count Anywhere, Royal Rumble, Last Man Standing, and TLC (Tables, Ladders, Chairs). Plus there are plenty of secret wrestlers, rings, and matches that can be unlocked, adding to the replay value. Gamers familiar with the controls of the Smackdown series will feel right at home. The game plays largely the same, with some additional moves and finishers. While having familiar and responsive controls is definitely a good thing, the graphics should not be too familiar on a next-generation system. Unfortunately, the game's character models haven't progressed much from the PlayStation version. However, the improvements in animations and ring entrances are fantastic. The biggest flaw in the game is the commentary by Tazz and Michael Cole. There are several instances in which the commentary is disjointed and unnatural, and it often fluctuates severely in volume. This is a shame, as the announcers are a big part of pro wrestling's storytelling. Despite this problem, WWF Smackdown! Just Bring It packs more than enough quality gameplay and variety to thrill any WWF fan. --Raymond M. Padilla Pros: Classic gameplay with some nice refinements Lots of features to unlock Great multiplayer fun Cons: Disjointed commentary is distracting and annoying Story mode is limited Unimpressive character models Amazon.com Product Description: Square off against more than 30 superstars from the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) in no less than 60 different match types. Execute bone-shattering signature finishers like the Rock Bottom and the Stone Cold Stunner as you decimate opponents right and left with more than 1,000 different moves. Style presentation, real-time events, and on-the-fly commentary called by Michael Cole and Tazz put you in the center of the spectacle as WWF stories play out and champions are belted. Amazon.co.uk: Those brash bullies from the World Wrestling Federation provide maximum entertainment in the newest release in the Smackdown series. Fans of the earlier wrestling games should feel right at home here: as always, a huge number of stars from the show are on hand to mete out punishment in a variety of interesting ways. Newcomers should have no difficulty either, as the controls are a dream to use. WWF Smackdown! Just Bring It provides so many battle modes it's hard to keep track of what they encompass. If Hell in a Cell is your thing, then go for it, but don't miss TLC (Tables, Ladders, and Chairs) and the Royal Rumble along the way. All are faithfully re-created for your grappling pleasure. And grappling really is a pleasure, as the Smackdown combat system is about as good as it gets. Timing is the key to a good offense: lunge towards your opponent too early and you'll leave yourself wide open, but get it just right and you'll take hold in time to execute one of numerous moves designed to make the audience wince (not to mention your opponent). Being on the receiving end isn't just a case of taking the punishment, however. A countermove is included to let you return or block punches or twist and twirl out of the path of an incoming hold--top stuff indeed. For an authentic touch, developers have included big entrance scenarios for each of the superstars, complete with signature tunes and Titantron video screen introductions. The only downside to this really great game is the amount of storage space it gobbles on the average PS2 memory card--4 MB, which seems overly greedy by any standard. This minor quibble aside, Just Bring It is a very entertaining title that should keep the average player occupied for months. --Chris Russell Customer Reviews: AWESOME, November 4, 2002 Reviewer: A gamer from lincoln park, mi United States this game is very cool. it has a lot of unlockable moves that look very cool. the graphics on this game are unbelievable! this game has the most realistic looking Undertaker from any wrestling game. there is about 40 wrestlers. the unlockable wrestlers are Spike Dudley, Rhyno, Fred Durst, Stephanie, Shane, Mick Foley, Jerry Lynn, and Tajiri. The wrestlers are all very detailed. The masks look exactly like real life (Kane's). however, this game will no doubt be beaten by SD4! WWF: Smackdown! Just Bring It!, November 2, 2002 Reviewer: matt from New York When I swithched from N64 to PS2, it owned all the wrestling games that were out for N64 and let me tell you something, Smackdown is the best wrestling game I have played to this date. The wrestlers entrances are unique to the wrestler, all wrestlers have two finishing moves and many great wrestlers including: Stone Cold, The Rock, The Undertaker, Kane, HHH, Kurt Angle, The Dudlyez and The Hardyz! Create a wrestler is very in depth and you could sit for hours creating the perfect wrestler. Some flaws that the game has are that the graphics are somewhat dissapionting for the PS2 console, The comentary done by Michele Cole and Tazz can get annoying very easily and the story mode is quite boring and annoying! And lastly,(even though small), the crowd looks like paper cut-outs and cheers for everyone, they don't choose one person.(They boo steven Richards and Ivory, thats it) If you like wrestling games, WWf: Smackdown! Just Bring It is a good investment. I know that smackdown 2 is coming out in 16 days (11/18/02) and I have already ordered it! WWF Game, October 29, 2002 Reviewer: An 11-year old gamer I was playing the game and i wanted to do a move they did and i hurt my little sister.I then hurt myself. my mom said the wwff is evil and took away my game. Can you make a less violent one? just bring it, October 20, 2002 Reviewer: taylor from some where in the usa this game is great ilove it the graphics are very realisstic the story mode isnt that long but in hardcore matches you can fight in the street and you can fight as tajiri and more caw parts you can fight in the crowd but sometimes when you are fighting against a com player when the com does a move on you when you get up youl be facing the ref instead of the com but every thing else is great it's a must buy. Good game, October 8, 2002 Reviewer: Stephen Roberts from Herndon, VA Good game, many modes, fun, would be 5 stars if targetting was easier.(changing who you look at) Good game, not the best, but good, October 1, 2002 Reviewer: from Grayson, KY USA The WWF Smackdown! series that gained popularity on the original PlayStation console moves to the 128-bit generation PlayStation 2 with this release of WWF SmackDown! Just Bring It, the third title from Yuke's and THQ to enjoy the popular World Wrestling Federation license. Maintaining the basic gameplay established in the earlier PSX releases, this edition in the series adds new game modes, more locations for fights (both on and off stage), and more interactive objects and environments, as well as the greatly enhanced graphics made possible by the more powerful PS2 platform. Over three-dozen real-life pro wrestlers have been painstakingly recreated to do virtual battle in this game. A Great Game, September 29, 2002 Reviewer: A gamer Obviously some people who wrote reviews played the game for five minutes and were completely unimpressed. These people obviously did not realize that there are many alternate routes leading to secret items in story mode, that there are a huge amount of match types, and that this game possesses one of the best Create-a-Wrestler systems of ALL TIME. It is possible to create a wrestler that looks exactly like the real thing. The biggest giveaway to the fact that some negative reviewers wrote the review 5 minutes after playing the game is that they complained about the difficulty of the game. I guess they were expecting to be an expert right away. Another thing I must mention is the realistic interaction with the ref. Earl Hebner will kick wrestlers out of the ring, miss counts, and fight back. And despite the disses thrown at it by some, the story mode is very extensive. An Amazing Game!, September 26, 2002 Reviewer: Jason The WWF Smackdown! series that gained popularity on the original PlayStation console moves to the 128-bit generation PlayStation 2 with this release of WWF SmackDown! You can play the ever famous "Hell In A Cell" in six diffrent modes, TLC (tables, ladders and chairs) match, No D.Q, Falls Count Anywhere (including Boiler Room, Streets, ect), Cage Match, Guest Referee, Royal Rumble, Survivor Series and an all new "Story Mode". You can get plenty of weapons and even wrestle in the crowd! Everything is great except for the story mode, which leaves wrestlers, announcers, guest speakers, ect not talking, but rather having captions underneath the speakers. An all around great wrestling game. I'd definitely rent it, but for me, I'd much rather own it! Best for the PS2...so far., September 12, 2002 Reviewer: Jason Ward from Houston, TX I'm a big fan of the THQ games. This one keeps a good thing going. A ton of special matches, good story mode (Before I knew what to do, I was chasing the European title, and won the Intercontinental belt.) What really made this game for me was the Create-A-Wrestler. I've never been able to pull off a perfect Jushin Liger clone...except here. Just Buy It, September 9, 2002 Reviewer: A gamer from USA OK first off the story mode, while short, is still fun, most people just complain about the dumbest things. you can still do a lot in the story. like the fact that it is all about you and you don't have to look at the lineup card for ten minutes and it takes 20 seconds to load everything like SD2. the CAW is outstanding, so many moves to choose from, just about every move ever done in wrestling is in the game. There is about 70 matches. my favs are tornado tag hiac, tornado tag tlc, and 8- man battle royal. The biggest improvement is the fact that it takes zero loading time. |
