Amazon.com Product Description: Legaia 2: Duel Saga begins in a small village called Nohl. The player assumes the role of Lang, a rookie member of the Nohl militia. The game includes features new to the RPG genre, including a unique battle system called Tactical Arts that allows players to enter a series of directional button inputs to call up special attack combos and maneuvers. Tactical Arts attacks will be accompanied by dynamic camera angles to further enhance the effects. Players will also have access to Origins, which assist characters in fighting battles and solving puzzles. Each member of the adventure party will have a different Origin available to him or her. Players can use these to battle enemies, heal injured party members, and destroy barriers.

From the Manufacturer: A magical crystal that supplies infinite water to the small village of Nohl is stolen by force, causing a solar eclipse that drowns the land in an evil light, making monsters more abundant and powerful and placing the village's survival at stake. Now Lang, a rookie member of the Nohl militia, must fight his way across uncharted lands to recover the crystal and restore peace to the land.

I have to admit that I loved this game through the first couple of days I played it. But as the game carried on it seemed to drag. The storyline was weak. Having to get back a magic crystal isn't all that original. The voices were laughable. The graphics aren't much to look at. I don't think they have to be as grand as a Squaresoft game. But they have to be up to par with PS2 capabilities.

The battle system is the only thing remotely interesting about this game. It's unique in design but in the end can't save it from it's flaws. I agree that this game was JUST TO PASS THE TIME till Suikoden 3 came out. And I find it to be far superior.
Bottom line is that this game should be rented first.

I havent played this game. BUT, i have played the first one, and may i say it wasnt a waste of time at all. I have looked at guides and i just say that it looks good. Unless you wont super flashy scenes and voices or whatever. great 10/10 in my book

Personally, I don't have this yet (it's in my wish list) and have never played it but have seen a complete guide and based on RPG experience, the other reviews and news from friends, I'd say it is worthy of the name LEGAIA.

To whoever wrote the JUST A GAME TO PASS TIME review, I dont mean to insult you but YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT RPG AND ARE WRONG! ( Legend [ of ] ) Legaia 2: Duel Saga is a GGGRRREEEAATT GAME

Just a game to pass time., November 3, 2002

I really enjoted the first one but the first one had a better arts system and was way more challenging than this one. I originally got this game just to pass the time until wild arms 3 came out but it has gone longer than I had expected and in this game is kind of bad. there is always some stupid detour that they throw in just to have you level up more to make the game too easy. This game has lasted ten more hours than it should have. Normally a long game is good but with every dungeon you are fearing the long drawn out battles that occur too frequently. But don't get me wrong it is a fun game just with many flaws. I would wait until there are no really good rpg's out to get this one...

After playing Legaia1, i couldn't wait to get my hands on Legaia2, and let me say, the wait was worth it.

It doesn't have all the flashy voice acting and graphics that games like Final Fantasy X have. There is some, but it doesn't stop anyone from continuing the game as long as the story and gameplay is good. and it is.

Those familiar with Legaia 1, should expect the same form of battle with the Arts system, where you use the d-pad to put in Combos, which to me is a very original way of doing things, and fun, where other games it seems your just fighting all the time to get to the next area, Legaia 2 actually gives you a reason to fight (Besides of course, leveling up).

The story line is nice and long, just like the game, its PACKED with side quests and mini-games, which keeps the game enjoyable no matter how long it is. The character development is great, its not like you gain 4 people at once and you have to choose who you want to play with, you actually get the new members of your party spaced out a little so you can see which ones you like the best.

In conclusion, if you like RPGs, I would really suggest buying this game, its fun, good and lengthy and theres plenty of things in the game to keep it fresh. The only reason not to buy it is maybe because you want a lot of flashy cutscenes and voice acting by some famous people because the game isn't that great (*cough* grandia Xtreme).

This game is way better then the first, but definetly just as fun, it has the side quests, and a great new way of using the arts. Not to mention the game is really challenging, so it does take awhile to get through. And if you don't mind leveling up a bit the game is great.

Oh my God! I cant really say anything negative about the saga so far. The first one (Legend of Legia) had an amazing storyline and a revolutionary battle system, making it a hard act to follow. I, personally, have spent 140 hours on the first one, uncovering all the hidden items and leveling my characters up to the max. I have not yet bought Legia 2: Duel Saga, but I have played it and I can say this:
Sound = not bad, not original either however
Storyline = Very good, although the first was much better (both are very unique)
Gameplay = Fluid controls and everything, the whole package.

This game is a really great game. The one and only downside to it that I noticed is the graphics. They look like Dreamcast graphics. Oh, and you also have to read. The music is great the gameplay is great and the story is good too. I love the battle system in this game. The story did take a little while to get going but that's a not a big deal.

First of all, I'm a big freaking fan of the original game, Legend of Legaia. ... :) Third, I have been waiting for this game to come out ever since I heard they were making a sequel. I love the battle system, very innovative and makes you feel more into the action than with standard menu selection and such. For those of you who don't know, the battle system is based on the directional buttons in different combinations to execute either regular attacks or special techniques called arts. These take AP(attack points)and can be learned by experimentation or by training with other characters or certain items. Each individual attack in a sequence takes up one space on the attack bar, which displays the current sequence, and the attack bar gets longer as you increase in level. Of course, it is turn based, which is a down-side for me. Still, I understand why they chose to make it this way. It would be hard to put in special moves quickly enough to not get frusterated with combat. The last info I'm going to share with you is about the arts. The regular attacks build up AP, as well as getting hit/defending, and spirit-up-ing. The Arts are divided into categories. One is hyper arts, you get these in the original by acquiring the correct books and using them. Another is miracle arts, these are the most powerful and consume most of the characters AP. Normal arts are more powerful than basic attacks, but consume some AP. Super arts are somewhere in between normal arts and miracle arts. Try combining normal, super and hyper arts for dazzling attacks.

Overall:
strategy- 5
puzzles-lacking: 3
Gameplay- 5
Sound- it's there: 3
Graphix- 4, I'm not picky
Tilt- 1,000,000!!

*since the scale only goes to 5, I give it 5/5*
