Amazon.com Review: Imagine insane jumps, wild off-road courses, and crazy stunts that could only be performed in the make-believe world of video games. Add to that the power of the PlayStation2 system, and you have all the ingredients of an arcade classic racing title on the PS2.

The physics in ATV Offroad Fury are absolutely incredible. Drivers and ATVs react accordingly as they hit the ground, and other riders need to be wary when someone takes a wipeout--one fall on these tight courses can send a shockwave of collisions through the pack.

The game provides arcade-style controls, which fit perfectly with the best aspects of the game. ATV Offroad Fury is one game that is best played with friends, as the artificial intelligence is unrealistically consistent. If you mess up, computer-controlled riders slow down to offer you a chance to get back into things. It does not seem to matter how poorly a player does for the first three laps of a five-lap race. If no mistakes are made in the final two laps, the computer opponents are easily overtaken.

The tracks are separated into three distinct groups: indoors, outdoors, and freestyle. The indoor tracks are fairly similar, as they are the same type of supercross tracks that you would see in a motocross game. The outdoor tracks, however, show much more variety in their terrains and backgrounds. From lush forests to harsh deserts all the way to snow-covered tundra, every track provides a different experience. The game's sound is merely decent; hearing those high-pitched engines at full throttle for too long begins to sound like you are being chased by a pack of killer bees.

Overall, ATV is a solid game that most everyone will want to try. The multiplayer mode really makes for a great party game, not only for its earnest competitiveness, but also for the entertainment value of the crashes and lunatic jumps and stunts. --Todd Mowatt

The best game made for the PS2, November 10, 2002

When i got my PS2 I got three games, ATV offroad fury, a snowboarding game and one other. But every time I go to play the PS2 I always put in the ATV offroad fury. I have over 20 games and I like ATV offroad fury the best, i always turn back to the ATV game. Im sure that ATV 2 will be better then part one. I just wish that they would have put the Yamaha Raptor in the game so that you could get it from the start, but you have to win it.

Fun and [inexpensive], October 30, 2002

This game is available... these days. It is a fun game, but it didn't keep my interest for too long. I would have preferred this game if it had all the real ATV models, instead of using a bunch of fictitious ATV's mixed with real ones. I realize they are trying to push current ATV's but the best quads ever made were the 2-cycles of the late 80's.

ATV off Road fury rocks! ...i didn't take me to long to beat this game but it was fun all the way through!

Here is a fun mini game I made up! In the main menu go to freestyle and then click two player and crater park. With a friend, in the camp ground you can play tag. To do this all you have to do is hit your friend with your ATV or, well, your body. When your not it you just run away but the rule is you CAN NOT GET OUT OF THE CAMP GROUND!

Players choose from a dozen All-Terrain Vehicles and three motorbikes, all from real-world names like Honda, Yamaha, and Kawasaki. Once the vehicle selection is made a trip to the garage is in order, where ATV's and bikes can be tweaked and customized to better match specific driving styles. Then it's time to crank up the alternative rock soundtrack, grab a few friends, and hit the off-road course for stunts and speed. Up to four players can compete at once on a split-screen with the help of a PS2 multi-tap. All vehicles and environments in ATV Offroad Fury are rendered in full 3D. Vehicles need not stay "on track" at all times and players can steer their bikes and ATV's anywhere on the course. To scale, environments can be over two square miles and the game provides 20 different area for racing. A track editor is also included to allow players to design their own courses. The game features six different types of competition, including Enduro races and freestyle stunt contests. ATV Offroad Fury was developed by Rainbow Studios, which is also responsible for the successful PC titles Motocross Madness and Motocross Madness 2.

Fun at first, but not much depth, August 22, 2002
Reviewer: Mark Pettit from Waianae, HI USA
First, the positive.

The game is really pretty, and has a fun physics engine. You can jump high and far, and you stay up in the air a long time. It's totally unrealistic, but it's fun as heck.

The ATV and rider models are a touch small, but they are very nice looking.

The music isn't bad, but it got pretty repetitive after a while, and I ended up just turning it off.

The cross-country courses are a lot of fun. The best thing to do is to just leave the course that the game has laid out for you and drive around at random. There are all kinds of cool things to discover lurking in hidden corners.

The problem with this game is that it really lacks depth. Once you finish the Pro-Career mode, that's it. You're given a special ATV and a special suit, but nothing else. I was really disappointed that the Pro-Career didn't include any of the cross-country courses. As it was, the cross-country courses, while fun, seem like they're just there to drive around in. Racing seems pointless.

Having finished the game, I doubt I will ever play it again. It just didn't have enough depth to hold my attention for very long.

gets you hooked, August 15, 2002

This game is very addicting when I first got it it was 19.99 so I didn't think that it would be all that good of a game. When I put it in my PS2 I was addicted when I first started playing there are 19 courses, 11 atv's, colors "red, green, yellow, purple, and blue". There are also different styles of clothing to choose from. Then you can also do tricks while in the air, there are about 16 of them. The last thing is that you can edit the tracks to the way you want them.

the coolest game for ps2, August 8, 2002

This is a really cool game. I agree that its not as cool to play by yourself but if you have a sibling or a friend, its awesome. Definetely get this game. The graphics are great and the tricks and courses are very cool. The controls are easy to master in a very short time. It's not expensive either plus its really cool although I would only recommend this game if you would have one or more people to play with you because it gets boring if you play one person. The multiplayer is ok because it is harder to see with the split screen but two people is the optimum game you're going to find for PS2. Buy this game, no question.

Hooked on ATV FURY!!!, August 4, 2002
Reviewer: Javier Sotomayor from MIAMI, FL USA
I bought a PS2 for my 6 year old and it turns out I've been the one hooked on it more than him. Specifically, on ATV Off Road Fury game. Since you can choose from so many different combinations of ATVs and configure them in the "garage" to improve their performance depending on the type of terrain or track, possibilities and hours of fun are endless. Freestyle arena is very challenging, specially when you are competing with others for high scores. I would recommend this game to anyone. Everyone that has come to our home, and played it once, got hooked!!
